Jim Conger bought SN 48 from from Ron Desilets in June 2001.
The photos were taken at Williams in typical summer conditions.
If you look behind me in one photoyou can see cus in the distance - we actually tow that far! Nice to have 40/1 on the way home since there is little lift for the same distance back during the summer conditions.

Williams gliderport is in the Northern portion of the California central valley, which has a strong inversion during the summer months. The coastal mountains push up through the inversion and provide great lift, but it is a 5-6000 foot tow by the time you reach the lift. The mountain range continues hundreds of miles to the North, so there is a lot of room to play. Spring and fall have lift in the valley, so tows are a lot shorter, but the best gliding remains over the mountains.)
